2003-04-15 - Disruptive Technologies featuring - Alfredo Cabeza & Curtis Brubaker

New Document Notable speakers -- Curtis Brubaker, the industrial designer of the first LearJet and the infamous 8-track system, and Alfredo Cabeza, a Senior Engineer at Movielink (the Video-on-Demand joint venture of the major hollywood studios) will share their thoughts on their attempts at creating disruptive technologies.

What are Disruptive Technologies? Coined by Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christensen, the theory states that "simple, convenient-to-use innovations" are often overlooked by large enterprises. "Because these radical innovations initially emerge in small markets, they can, and often do, become full-blown competitors for already established products." With widespread examples from the steel industry to the rise of the Internet, Christensen's manifesto has gained widespread attention. Please come listen and share the experiences of two noted entrepreneurs on their quest to reshape their industries.

Directions: 2800 Douglas Loop is 1 block south of 28th & Ocean Park in the old Museum of Flying (overlooking the Santa Monica Airport). The elevator to the 2nd floor is located right at the entrance of the parking lot - look for the Orange balloons! See you there!
